The UNSW Business Society thrives upon its vast connections within the business industry. Whilst students gain an abundance of knowledge throughout their university studies, it is through upskilling and networking events that these skills may translate into tangible experience. Thus, in 2025, the Externals division will work to broaden the scope of events through diversifying our Sponsor and Partner pool, whilst revising our promotional strategies to tailor each event towards one specific student market. As Vice President of Externals, it is my central goal to elevate learning opportunities for our UNSW Business school students.
As the Vice President of Externals, the idea of collaboration and ‘giving back’ to our students and the members of our society is something that resonates strongly with my goals. If elected, I aim to draw upon our extensive history of alumni to carry out new workshops and increased networking opportunities. Passing down the wealth of knowledge and experience is not only a way of connecting our community, but a pivotal way in which students can grow by learning from others’ experiences.
Given the nature of our events being largely professional and executed with the purpose of upskilling our students, Externals has the potential to fortify our marketing strategies across our portfolios, ensuring each event resonates with their respective target market. To illustrate, this will result in a higher number of events that are exclusive for our penultimate and graduating students, as well as creating workshops that are aimed at exposing our first year students to the diverse environment that is the business industry. As such, continuing to work closely with our Operations division to solidify the way we advertise our events is critical in ensuring consistently high student participation, ultimately perpetuating Sponsor and Partner satisfaction.
As the division that is powered through our ability to maintain strong connections with industry sponsors and partners, I aim to upscale the Partnerships pool that BSOC currently has. With such a large market of students, this is an opportunity to seek a higher number of mutually beneficial partnerships with non-corporate businesses. In addition, I plan to encourage our Competitions and Partnerships portfolios to work together more closely, whereby our prize pool for future Case Competitions and Cracks can capitalise upon deals that are struck with each of our Partners.
